2257169 MBTH Reagent Powder Pillows, 3-500 µg/l CH₂O

Reagent Powder Pillows measure 3-500 µg/l CH₂O in water. Article 2257169 uses MBTH method (8110). Each package of the product can be used to perform evaluation of 50-100 samples.

Before you start take into account the following:

• It is recommended to collect the sample using clean glass or plastic bottles with tight-fitting caps.
• It is required to conduct sample analysis instantly after collection.
• It is not recommended to preserve the collected sample.
• It is necessary to adjust the sample temperature to 25±1 °C (77±2 °F) before analysis.

Procedure for CH₂O determination

Run program 200 Formaldehyde. Add 25mL of formaldehyde-free water and MBTH powder pillow in the 50mL mixing cylinder to prepare the blank. Install the stopper on the mixing cylinder and after 17 minutes, stir the mixing cylinder content. Prepare the sample in the another mixing cylinder (see manual for detailed information regarding sample preparation). Insert the blank in the cell holder and press ZERO. Remove the blank cell, install the sample cell in the instrument and select READ. The required measurement wavelength is 630nm.

Summary of method

Formaldehyde enters into reaction with MBTH forming blue color. The color intensity is proportional to the formaldehyde concentration that should be evaluated photometrically.
