Aluminium Reagent Set measures aluminium in water and wastewater.
Aluminium Reagent Set measures aluminium 0.008-0.800 mg/L Al in water and wastewater. Article 2242000 uses Aluminon method (8012). The product can be used to evaluate 100 samples. Article 2242000 is compatible with all Hach spectrophotometers.
Aluminium Reagent Set includes:
- AluVer 3 Aluminum Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1429099)
- Ascorbic Acid Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1457799)
- Bleaching 3 Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1429449)
Before starting analysis:
- Perform sample digestion with heat and acid to measure all forms of aluminium.
- Clean labware with 6.0 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinse with deionized water to remove contaminants.
- The sample temperature must be between 20 °C and 25 °C (68-77 °F) to receive error-free testing results.
Procedure for Al determination
Start program 10 Aluminum Alumin. Mix 50mL of water or wastewater sample and Ascorbic Acid Powder Pillow in the mixing cylinder. Install the stopper and invert the mixing cylinder content. Add AluVer 3 Aluminum Reagent Powder Pillow and invert the mixing cylinder for 1 minute. Swirl 10mL of the reacted sample and the content of Bleaching 3 Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell to prepare the blank. Pour 10mL of solution from the mixing cylinder into another cell. After 15 minutes, insert the blank in the cell holder and press ZERO. Install the pretreated sample cell in the instrument and select READ.
Summary of method
Aluminon indicator combines with aluminum forming red-orange coloration. The color intensity is proportional to the aluminum concentration and must be evaluated photometrically.
