2107569 Nitrite Reagent Powder Pillows, 2-250 mg/L NO₂

Article 2107569 measure nitrite in the range of 2-250 mg/L NO₂ for cooling systems. The product uses Ferrous Sulphate method (8153). Each package of product can be used to conduct evaluation of 100 tests. Nitrite Reagent Powder Pillows is compatible with the following DR series spectrophotometers: DR890, DR2010, DR2700, DR2800, DR3900, DR4000 and DR6000.

Before starting analysis:

• It is recommended to collect the sample with clean glass or plastic containers.
• It is required to increase the sample temperature to room temperature before analysis.

Procedure for NO₂ measurement

Start program 373 N, Nitrite HR PP to evaluate the sample. Mix 10 mL sample and NitriVer 2 Nitrite Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell. Then install the stopper and shake the sample cell content. Fill another cell with 10 mL sample to prepare the blank. After that clean the blank sample cell and insert into the instrument. After 10 minutes, clean the pretreated sample cell and perform sample analysis at 585 nm using spectrophotometer or at 560 nm using colorimeter.

Summary of method

The aforementioned method uses ferrous sulfate in acidic medium to reduce nitrite to nitrous oxide. Ferrous ions combine with the nitrous oxide forming greenish-brown complex in proportion to the nitrite in the sample.
