PhosVer 3 Phosphate Reagent Powder Pillows measures orthophosphate 0.02-2.50 mg/L PO₄ in drinking water, wastewater and seawater. Article 2106069 is included in the Phosphonate Reagent Set (p/n 2429700) that measures phosphonate in the range from 0.02 to 125 mg/L PO₄ in boiler water, cooling water and other liquids. The product uses Ascorbic Acid method (8048). Each product package contains 100 Powder Pillows. Article 2106069 can be evaluated on all Hach instruments except DR820, DR2000 and DR3000.
Before starting analysis:
- Collect samples in glass or plastic containers cleaned with 6 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinsed with deionized water.
- It is recommended to evaluate the sample instantly after collection.
- Measure the reagent blank value for each reagent lot.
Procedure for PO₄ determination
Run program 490 P React. PP for the orthophosphate analysis in the range of 0.02-2.50 mg/L PO₄. Add 10 mL sample and PhosVer 3 Phosphate Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell and shake the cell content. Fill another cell with 10 mL of sample to prepare the blank. Install the blank cell into the cell holder of the instrument and select ZERO. Remove the blank, insert the pretreated sample cell in the spectrophotometer or colorimeter and press READ.
Summary of method
Orthophosphate enters into reaction with molybdate in acid medium producing mixed phosphate/molybdate complex. Ascorbic acid reduces the complex that gives intense molybdenum blue color.

It is required to store PhosVer 3 Phosphate Reagent Powder Pillows at the temperature between 10 and 25°C.
