2105869 CuVer 1 Copper Reagent Powder Pillows, 0.04-5.00 mg/L Cu

Article 2105869 measures copper 0.04 to 5.00 mg/L Cu in water, wastewater and seawater. Reagent Powder Pillows uses Bichinchoninate method (8506). The product can be used to evaluate 100 samples. Article 2105869 is compatible with all Hach instruments except DR820, DR850, DR2000 and DR3000.

Before starting analysis:

• Collect the water, wastewater or seawater sample with glass or plastic container.
• It is required to clean the glass or plastic container with 6 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinse with deionized water. 
• It is recommended to digest the sample with heat and acid to evaluate all forms of copper.

Procedure for Cu evaluation

In order to measure copper in the aforementioned range, run program 135 Copper, Bicin. Swirl 10 mL sample and CuVer 1 Copper Reagent powder pillow in the sample cell. Fill another cell with 10 mL sample to prepare blank. Thoroughly clean the blank cell, install in the instrument and push ZERO. Clean the prepared sample cell and evaluate testing results. The required measurement wavelength is 560 nm.

Summary of method

Copper enters into reaction with salt of bicinchoninic acid contained in CuVer 1 Copper Reagent forming purple color complex in proportion to the copper concentration.

Sample preparation

Reduce the sample pH using concentrated nitric acid to pH<2 and store at room temperature to preserve the sample for later analysis.
