Reagent Powder Pillows measure iron in water, wastewater and seawater.
Article 2105769 measures iron 0.02-3.00 mg/L Fe in water, wastewater and seawater. FerroVer Iron Reagent Powder Pillows can be also used to evaluate iron concentration in oil and gas field water. The product uses FerroVer method (8008). Each product package contains 100 Powder Pillows. Article 2105769 can be measured on all Hach instruments except DR2000 and DR3000. Reagent Powder Pillows can be used for 10 mL sample analysis.
Before starting analysis:
- Collect the sample in glass or plastic bottles cleaned with 6 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinsed with deionized water.
- Adjust the sample pH to 3-5 with 5 N sodium hydroxide solution.
- Use 0.1-g scoop of RoVer Rust Remover to eliminate sample turbidity.
Procedure for Fe determination
Start program 265 Iron, FerroVer to evaluate iron in the range from 0.02 to 3.00 mg/L Fe. It is required to swirl 10 mL sample and FerroVer Iron Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell to prepare the sample. After 3 minutes, fill another cell with 10 mL sample to prepare the blank. Clean the blank cell and install in the spectrophotometer or colorimeter. Remove the blank, clean the pretreated sample cell and insert in the instrument.
Summary of method
FerroVer Iron Reagent converts soluble and insoluble forms of iron to soluble ferrous iron that enters into reaction with the 1-10 phenanthroline indicator forming orange color. The color concentration is proportional to the iron concentration in the sample.
Sample preparation
It is recommended to protect FerroVer Iron Reagent Powder Pillows from heat, moisture and light. It is required to keep the product away from acids, acid fumes, combustible materials, organic materials and oxidizers. The recommended storage temperature is from 10 °C to 25 °C.
