2105669 Total Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillows, 0.02-2.00 mg/L Cl₂

2105669 Hach

Reagent Powder Pillows measure total chlorine, bromine and iodine in process water, estuary water, seawater and other liquids.

Add to bag

Article 2105669 measures total chlorine 0.02-2.00 mg/L Cl₂, bromine 0.05-4.50 mg/L Br₂ and iodine 0.07-7.00 mg/L I₂ in process water, estuary water, seawater and other liquids. The product uses DPD method (8016, 8031, 8167). Each package contains 100 Reagent Powder Pillows. Reagent Powder Pillows are compatible with all Hach instruments except DR2000 and DR3000. The product can be used for 10mL sample evaluation.

Before you start take into account the following:

  • Collect the sample containing total chlorine, bromine and iodine with pretreated glass containers.
  • Conduct sample analysis instantly after sample collection.

Procedure for Cl₂ determination

Run program 80 Chlorine F&T PP. Add 10mL of sample and the content of the Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell. Stir the cell content and start the instrument timer for 3 minutes. Pour 10mL of the process water, estuary water or other liquid sample in the another cell. Thoroughly clean, install in the instrument and evaluate the blank cell. After 3 minute reaction time, insert the sample cell and select READ. The color change should be measured using spectrophotometers at 530nm or colorimeters at 520nm. See manual for additional information regarding bromine and iodine determination.

Summary of method

The combined chlorine oxidizes iodide in the reagent to iodine. The iodine and free chlorine react with DPD forming pink color that is proportional to the total chlorine concentration.
