Reagent Powder Pillows measure free chlorine in water, treated water, estuary and seawater.
Reagent Powder Pillows measure free chlorine in the range of 0.02-2.00 mg/L Cl₂ in water, wastewater, treated waters and other liquids. The product uses DPD method (8021). The product can be used to evaluate up to 100 samples. Article 2105569 is compatible with all DR series instruments except DR2000 and DR3000.
Before you start take into account the following:
- Collect the sample using clean glass container soaked in weak bleach solution and rinsed with deionized or distilled water.
- It is necessary to measure the sample instantly after collection.
- It is required to use separate, dedicated sample cells for free and total chlorine analysis.
- Use standard additions method to control the test procedure, reagents and instrument and detect potential interferences in the sample.
Procedure for Cl₂ evaluation
Run program 80 Chlorine F&T PP. Pour 10mL of sample in the blank cell and evaluate the blank in the spectrophotometer or colorimeter. Mix 10mL of sample and powder pillow content in the another cell. Thoroughly clean and install the sample cell in the instrument. The required measurement wavelength is 530nm (for spectrophotometers) or 520nm (for colorimeters). See manual for additional information regarding free chlorine and chlorine dioxide determination using colorimeter.
Summary of method
Chlorine enters into reaction with DPD indicator forming pink color. The intensity of the color is proportional to the chlorine content and must be evaluated photometrically.
