Hydrazine Color Disc Test Set is required for hydrazine determination in water samples from boilers and cooling towers. The set measures hydrazine in the range between 0 and 1 mg/L N₂H₄. Hydrazine Color Disc Test Kit uses Color Disc/ p-Dimethylamino-benzaldehyde method. The kit can be used for 300 tests. The smallest increment is 0 mg/L N₂H₄. Model HY-2 includes all apparatus, reagents and instructions in the rugged carrying case for field analysis.

Procedure for N₂H₄ measurement

Before starting analysis:

  • Analyze the sample instantly after collection.
  • Install the color disc on the center pin in the color comparator box (numbers to the front).
  • Pull apart the flat plastic sides, open the color disc, remove the thin inner disc and dry all parts with soft cloth if the color disc is wet internally.

Testing procedure

Add 5 mL of deionized water into the first tube. Fill the second tube to the 5 mL line with sample. Pipet 2 drops of HydraVer® 2 Hydrazine Reagent into each tube and swirl to mix. After 15 minutes, the yellow color appears if hydrazine is present in the sample. Place the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box. Set the color comparator box in front of the light. Rotate the color disc to match the color. Analyze the testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
