1455400 Silica Test Kit, Model SI-5

Silica Test Set measures silica in the range of 0 - 30 mg/L SiO₂ and 0 - 600 mg/L SiO₂ in water and other liquids. Color Disc/Heteropoly Blue Amino Acid method is used to conduct silica analysis. The set may be used for evaluation of 100 samples. The smallest increments are 1 and 20 SiO₂. Model SI-5 is frequently used in many industrial applications, such as high-pressure boiler turbines.

Procedure for SiO₂ measurement

Before you start take into account the following:

• It is required to place the color disc on the center pin in the color comparator box (numbers to the front).
• It is recommended to use sunlight or lamp as the source of light to find the color match with the color comparator box.
• It is necessary to use the standard solution as the sample to confirm the test accuracy.

Testing procedure

In order to perform silica determination in the range of 0 - 30 mg/L SiO₂, pour the sample into two tubes to the first line. Swirl Acid Reagent Powder Pillow and Molybdate Reagent Powder Pillow in the first tube. If silica or phosphate is present in the sample, yellow color will appear as the result of the reaction. After 10 minutes, add Citric Acid Powder Pillow in the first tube and swirl the tube content. Phosphate interference is removed. After 2 minutes, pour Silica 3 Reagent Powder Pillow into the first tube and swirl to mix. If silica is present in the sample, the content of the tube will change color to blue. After 5 minutes, install the blank tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Place the pretreated sample tube into the color comparator box. Keep the color comparator box in front of the light, turn the color disc to find the color match and evaluate testing results.
