Reagent Powder Pillows measures boron in water, wastewater, oil and gas field water.
Article 1417099 measures boron 0-50mg/L B in water, wastewater, oil and gas field water. Boron Reagent Powder Pillows uses Carmine method (8015). The product can be used to conduct analysis of 100 tests. Article 1417099 is compatible with all Hach spectrophotometers except DR800 and PC II.
Before starting analysis:
- It is recommended to collect the water, wastewater, oil or gas field water sample with clean polyethylene or polypropylene bottles.
- Dry laboratory glassware before sample analysis.
Procedure for B determination
In order to evaluate boron in the range between 0.2 and 14.0 mg/L B, start program 40 Boron. Swirl 75 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid and BoroVer 3 Boron Reagent Powder Pillow in the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Pipet 2.0 mL of deionized water into 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask to prepare the blank. Add 2.0 mL of sample into another 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Transfer 35 mL of prepaired solution from 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask to each 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask. After 25 minutes, transfer at least 10 mL from each 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask into separate cells. Thoroughly clean and evaluate the blank cell in the instrument. Remove the blank, clean the pretreated sample cell and evaluate boron concentration. See manual for additional information regarding oil and gas field water sample analysis.
Summary of method
Boron enters into reaction with carminic acid in sulfuric acid solution forming reddish to bluish color. The color is directly proportional to the boron concentration in the sample and is required to be evaluated using spectrophotometer.
Sample preparation
Boron Reagent Powder Pillows must be kept away from oxidizers. It is required to protect the product from moisture.
