Article 1407099 measures low range 0.02-2.00 mg/L Cl₂, mid range 0.05-4.00 mg/L Cl₂ and high range 0.1-10.0 mg/L Cl₂ free chlorine in water, treated water, drinking water and other liquids. The product uses DPD method (8021, 10069, 10245). Each product package contains 100 Powder Pillows. The product is compatible with all Hach spectrophotometers and colorimeters. Free Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillows may be used for 25mL sample analysis in the low range, 10mL in the mid range and 5mL in the high range.

Before you start take into account the following:

  • Collect the water, treated water or other liquid sample using clean glass bottles.
  • Conduct sample analysis instantly after sample collection.
  • It is not recommended to preserve the sample for later analysis.

Procedure for Cl₂ evaluation

In order to evaluate low range free chlorine, run program 80 Chlorine F&T PP. Fill the cell with 10 mL sample to prepare the blank cell. Clean and insert the blank cell in the spectrophotometer or colorimeter. Mix 10 mL sample and Free Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillow in the another cell to prepare the sample cell. Clean the prepared sample cell, install it in the instrument and press READ. See manual for additional information regarding mid range and high range free chlorine determination.

Summary of method

Chlorine instantly enters into reaction with DPD indicator forming pink color. The color intensity is proportional to the chlorine concentration that must be evaluated using spectrophotometer at 530 nm measurement wavelength or colorimeter at 520 nm.

Sample preparation

It is required to store the product at the temperature from 10° to 25°C.
