MacConkey-Sorbitol Agar, catalogue No. 88902, is a granular dehydrated medium supplied by MilliporeSigma / Merck under the NutriSelect® Plus product line. According to ISO 16654:2001 methodology, this medium is formulated with agar, bile salts, crystal violet, neutral red, peptone, proteose peptone, sodium chloride and sorbitol to provide a selective environment that suppresses Gram-positive bacteria and differentiates enteric Gram-negative organisms based on their ability to ferment sorbitol. The medium is suitable for routine microbiological analysis and quality control of food, beverage, water and environmental samples.
