Selective and differential chromogenic agar medium for detection and differentiation of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in food and microbiological quality control testing.
MacConkey-Sorbitol ChromoSelect Agar is a selective and differential chromogenic culture medium supplied by MilliporeSigma / Merck under the NutriSelect® Plus quality designation. It is formulated for the detection and differentiation of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in food, beverage and environmental microbiology. The medium is based on the MacConkey principle with sorbitol as the fermentable carbohydrate and chromogenic substrates that enable visual differentiation of target organisms. Sorbitol-negative E. coli O157:H7 produces characteristic colonies that are easily distinguished from sorbitol-fermenting coliforms.
Advantages
- Selective and differential medium for detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7.
- ChromoSelect® formulation enables clear visual colony differentiation.
- Sorbitol-based differentiation supports identification of pathogenic strains.
- NutriSelect® Plus quality ensures consistent performance and reliability.
- Supplied as dehydrated powder for flexible preparation in microbiology laboratories.
