Anaerotest strips are chemical indicator strips used to verify the maintenance of anaerobic conditions in incubation jars and chambers by detecting the presence or absence of oxygen.

Add to bag

Anaerotest strips are designed to provide a visual confirmation of an anaerobic atmosphere during the cultivation of obligate and facultative anaerobes. The strips utilize methylene blue as a redox indicator. In the presence of oxygen, the reaction zone remains blue (oxidized form). Under anaerobic conditions, the dye undergoes chemical reduction to leucomethylene blue, causing the strip to turn colorless or white. The process is reversible: if oxygen is re-introduced into the environment, the reaction zone returns to its original blue color.

Advantages

  • Clear visual color transition (blue to colorless) for reliable monitoring of anaerobiosis.
  • Compatible with Anaerocult™ systems, anaerobic jars, and incubation bags.
  • High sensitivity to residual oxygen levels in the atmosphere.
  • Ease of use with ready-to-moisten reaction zones.
  • Essential tool for quality control in clinical and industrial microbiology laboratories.
