The SL 1521 EBI 16 Bowie-Dick Test Logger Set is a high-precision electronic testing system designed for the daily monitoring of steam penetration in autoclaves. This innovative digital alternative to traditional paper indicators provides objective, clear, and tamper-proof evidence of successful steam sterilization, specifically engineered for medical clinics, dental offices, and pharmaceutical laboratories.
The SL 1521 Set (Part No. 1250-1521) is centered around the EBI 16 Precision Data Logger, which features integrated sensors for both temperature and pressure. Unlike chemical indicators that can be difficult to interpret, the EBI 16 performs a digital Bowie-Dick Test according to DIN EN ISO 11140-4. It precisely detects the presence of non-condensable gases (NCGs) and insufficient vacuum levels within the chamber. The kit includes the Winlog.med software, which automatically evaluates the data and provides a clear "Pass/Fail" result. Housed in a robust, medical-grade stainless steel casing, the logger is built for long-term durability and is protected by a thermal insulation box to ensure reliable performance during the high-temperature test cycle.
Advantages
- Objective Results: Eliminates the subjective interpretation associated with paper-based color-change indicators.
- Digital Documentation: Automatically generates a permanent, tamper-proof electronic record of every Bowie-Dick test for legal compliance.
- Cost-Effective: Reusable for up to 1,000 cycles or several years (with battery and sensor service), reducing the waste and ongoing costs of single-use indicators.
- High Precision: Features a high-accuracy Pt 1000 sensor and an absolute pressure sensor to capture even the smallest deviations in chamber performance.
- All-in-One Set: Includes the data logger, professional evaluation software, and an interface for immediate use.
- Easy Operation: Simple "Start" button on the device and automated PDF report generation through the Winlog software.
Instructions for use
The SL 1521 Set is designed for use as the first sterilization cycle of the day. Preparation: Switch on the EBI 16 logger and place it into the interface to program the start time via the Winlog.med software. Note: Place the logger (inside its thermal insulation box) in the empty autoclave chamber at the most critical point (usually the bottom of the chamber, above the drain). Run the standardized Bowie-Dick test cycle (e.g., 134 °C for 3.5 minutes). After the cycle, remove the logger, connect it to the interface, and download the data. The software will instantly analyze the vacuum phase and the plateau phase to confirm if steam penetration was successful.
