Chromogenic selective agar for enumeration and differentiation of Escherichia coli in food, beverage and environmental samples; compliant with ISO 16649 microbiological methods and supplied in granular form.
Chromocult TBX (Tryptone Bile X-glucuronide) Agar, catalogue No. 116122, is a chromogenic and selective microbiological culture medium supplied by MilliporeSigma / Merck. It is designed for the detection, enumeration and differentiation of β-D-glucuronidase positive Escherichia coli from food, beverage and environmental samples. The formulation includes bile salts to suppress non-target flora and a chromogenic substrate (X-β-D-glucuronide), which is cleaved by the β-D-glucuronidase enzyme present in most E. coli strains, producing blue to blue-green colonies under incubation.
Advantages
- Chromogenic medium enabling visual differentiation of E. coli based on colony colour.
- Selective formulation with bile components to inhibit Gram-positive bacteria.
- Complies with ISO 16649 standard methods for E. coli enumeration.
- Granulated dehydrated form allows flexible preparation of plates or broths.
- Suitable for food, beverage and environmental microbiology quality control.
- Enables reliable detection of β-D-glucuronidase positive strains of E. coli.
