PPLO Agar Base without Crystal Violet (catalogue No. 1140) is a dehydrated culture medium formulated for the cultivation and isolation of Mycoplasma species and other fastidious microorganisms. The medium is based on the classical PPLO (Pleuropneumonia-Like Organisms) formulation and does not contain crystal violet, which allows better growth of sensitive Mycoplasma strains.

The agar base must be supplemented after sterilization with appropriate enrichments such as horse serum, yeast extract and selective supplements, depending on the target organism and application. Once properly supplemented, the medium provides essential nutrients, growth factors and osmotic conditions required for Mycoplasma growth.

Advantages

  • Suitable base medium for cultivation of Mycoplasma spp. and other fastidious organisms.
  • Free of crystal violet, improving recovery of sensitive strains.
  • Flexible formulation allowing supplementation according to specific protocols.
  • Applicable in clinical, veterinary, pharmaceutical and research microbiology.
