Millipore M FC (Membrane-Filterable Coliform) Agar is used for the detection of faecal coliforms by the membrane filtration technique in food and beverage samples.

The medium is composed of nutrients, a pH indicator, and selective agents that inhibit the growth of non-coliform bacteria while allowing the growth of coliforms.
The medium also contains the substrate 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-beta-D-glucuronide (BCIG), which is hydrolyzed by coliform bacteria to produce a blue color, allowing for easy differentiation between coliform and non-coliform bacteria.
Millipore M FC agar is available in a dehydrated form and is prepared by adding water and sterilizing before use. Plastic bottle contains 500 g. m-FC Agar is supplemented with rosolic acid and incubated at 44.5 °C ± 0.2 °C for 24 h.
